Sewing Circle

The Sewing Circle on Islesboro, 162nd years old this year, still meets weekly, practicing all fibers arts making gorgeous and useful things for homes and families on and off island.

Circle occupies an old former school house in Dark Harbor stuffed to the rafters with fabric and fiber, filled with sewing machines and cutting tables, all that is needed to make the hundreds of items created and sold each year.

Besides earning the money through an annual fair—impossible this pandemic year—to care for its building, it also traditionally supports island charitable organizations, with grants of hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Sewing Circle items are available for purchase on Wednesdays from 10 until noon at the Sewing Circle building outdoor sale on Pendleton Point Road
