Welcome to the Islesboro Historical Society

Since 1964, we have preserved, protected, and promoted the history of our island community in the middle of Penobscot Bay. We are accessible by ferry from Lincolnville Beach, and look forward to sharing the history of our island with you.

Housed in the 1894 Town Hall, we maintain a museum, archives, and Pendleton Hall, where we host art shows, speakers, films,
concerts, and other events.

Volunteers Needed

The Historical Society relies upon community volunteers in our museum and at our art shows. Museum volunteers greet visitors, show them the museum, answer questions (if possible) and generally serve as ambassadors for the Historical Society.
Training is provided for all volunteers prior to the opening of the museum on July 3.
